I titled this article Pool Billiards league play so it will be easy for someone who is searching either word to find this article.
I currently play on a BCA team once per week on Thursday nights and two APA teams, one on Tuesday and the other on Fridays.
The APA league is handicapped and we use the APA equalizer system. This comes into affect on Tuesday nights because it is a regular APA league. This league is 8 ball and my skill level is a 7. This is as high as it gets in 8 ball.
I played a guy ranked as a 3 this past Tuesday, which meant I had to win 6 games before he won 2 games. I had him down 3 to nothing when I cut a ball in the corner and accidentally kicked the 8 ball in with my cue ball. This put the heat on me and he was on the hill. I cruised through the next 2 games and he had a chance to beat me on the final game. Lucky for me he missed the ball before the 8 and I cleared the rack to win the match 6 to 1.
I am ranked a 9 in APA 9 ball, but I am not currently on a 9 ball team. What is your favorite Pool Billiards game?
Our Friday APA league is an all star league. This means that we all play heads up with no regard to skill level or handicaps. We play a combination of 8 ball and 9 ball and it is a race to 7. (First to win 7 games) The player who wins the lag at the beginning of the game chooses either the break on the first rack or which game is played first. (8 ball or 9 ball)
The Thursday BCA league is not handicapped and everyone plays heads up. This is an 8 ball league and 5 players take turns shooting one game each per set and we play 5 sets in a night. This past Thursday night I won 4 games and lost one in a long safety war. I had 2 break and runs from the 4 wins.
I would love to hear about league play in your home town and it would be cool to find out if you have a ranking system and what your skill level is. Drop me a line and let me know. Do you prefer to play pool or billiards heads up or is a handicap system better for you?
To Your Run Out Success,
Ted

Listen - Can You Hear The Crack of The Bat
For me the best part of the game of baseball or softball has been hitting. I wish I had a batting coach when I was younger that could have taught me the fine art of hitting. Giving my daughter a coach is my gift to her. Here is one evening where I spent some time with my daughter at her batting cage...
As I gazed back and forth between my daughter and this other girl I realized that after about 20 more minutes of hitting and talking with her coach that this girl (we will call her this girl) was smacking the ball. Projectiles were streaming off her bat. That loud crack from her bat was reverberating in the facility.
It dawned on me… That this is why I love this game so much. I loved that crack of the bat. I loved hitting that ball so right. I loved it when the ball whistled in the air. Enjoying the other aspects of the game like base running, fielding, and throwing were great. But, I was deeply passionate about hitting. The supreme challenge was why I started playing this game and why I continue to enjoy watching it today. The anticipation of watching a great batter gets ready for the pitch. Digging in, focusing on what the pitcher is doing and what the pitcher will do. Awesome.
As I continued to watch my daughter, Manteee, and this other girl hit better and better I could not help but feel an enormous amount pleasure. They were transforming in front of me. Whatever those coaches told them and whatever those two girls absorbed from their coaches was generating solid hit after solid hit. As a parent I felt that what I was doing was contributing to my daughter’s life.
I could not believe how happy I was for my daughter and the girl I did not know. There is something wonderful about learning and that willingness to be taught. Even though I only watched them I felt as if I was part of what was evolving in front of me.
As I was leaving that night I felt like my daughter had made progress. She was doing what she loved and getting better at it. Wow.
Feel free to pass this on to anyone you think would enjoy reading about baseball.

Airsoft Guns: An Introduction
Airsoft Guns: An Introduction
Airsoft guns are considered replicas of real firearms but not all replicas are Airsoft guns. There are some replicas that don't have a firing mechanism while others, such as the Real Action Markers, may have a different mechanism and shoot non-Airsoft types of projectiles. This fact alone makes airsoft guns a great collector's item. Airsoft guns are classified according to their operating principle which can be either: spring, electric, or gas-powered.
Airsoft is a combat game similar to paintball in which participants eliminate opponents by hitting them with 6 mm (or occasionally 8 mm) plastic BBs launched from airsoft guns. An airsoft player is shooting from behind cover wearing goggles that fully seal the area around the eyes and a balaclava to protect the face. The sport of Airsoft started in Japan during the early 1980s. Airsoft has been popular in Asia for a long time, and there is now a growing interest in airsoft weapons and events in North America and Europe. Airsoft started appearing in North America and Europe during the middle of the 1990's. Airsoft is a very popular sport these days.
Airsoft game scenarios can vary widely according to mission type, number of teams, number of players per team, the objective of the game, victory conditions, and game durations. Airsoft games can be run by the players themselves using agreed upon rules. Airsoft guns are most commonly powered by one of three sources: gas, air, or mechanical boxes that use motors to pull back and release a spring piston. Airsoft guns are NOT toys and are not intended or designed for children. Airsoft guns are to be purchased and used by adults 18 years of age or older.
Airsoft guns are used all over the world for target shooting, firearms training instructors, class III-weapons enthusiasts, motion-picture studios, and most commonly, for tactical and military simulation war games. Airsoft guns are ideal for tactical training. Airsoft guns are remarkably accurate for smooth-bore guns.

The Fun Of Bingo Halls
Many people around the world from Australia to Zambia flock to bingo halls to play their favourite game. Bingo halls come in all shapes and sizes, from the small town community halls to buildings specially built for bingo.
The specialized bingo halls have the feel of a Las Vegas casino, with all the flashy lights and elegant interior and furniture. Fine music can be also heard drifting through the various bingo halls for the players' enjoyment. The main Bingo area is an atrium with a stage where the caller (person who announces the numbers) stands. The stage in bingo halls are normally done up with various decorations to add more atmosphere to the occasion.
Gone are the days where bingo halls are regarded as smoky places just for the older people. Modern bingo halls are a safe place for young and old to have a night of great fun. The bigger bingo halls offer other side attractions like live entertainment, places to get food and other gambling games like video poker and video roulette.
The caller stands on the stage and clearly announces each number; once a player has a winning ticket another member of the bingo hall's staff will go the player and confirm that the player has won. Once confirmed the caller puts the information on a computer and displays the numbers on a screen for approximately 10 seconds for all the other players to see. Once the 10 seconds has elapsed the game continues.
Bingo halls are often used for charity events and fund raising activities. These halls are hired out to various organizations which in turn run events to raise money for charity or other worthy causes.
If you cannot get to any bingo halls, why not try http://www.bingodrome.com which is a great place to play bingo online.

Cooper Mastercraft Tire - What They Can Offer You
There you are loading up your family for the annual summer vacation to the cabin. How much time have you spent preparing? Well, everything at work is taken care of for your absence. The house is completely shut down and locked up; with neighbors ready to implement the precautionary measures, in case plans B or C need to be enacted. All necessary good have been pack and double-checked. The gas tank is full, the oil has been changed and the insurance card is stowed safely for easy location. What did you do about the tires? Well, something, for sure. I’ll bet that you looked at them; at least to check the air pressure, but probably at best to consider the wear they’re showing for a possible rotation. Am I criticizing? Absolutely not. And why not? Because you need to not worry about anything else because thankfully there are companies out their, like Copper and their Copper Mastercraft tires, that can and do do the worrying for us.
Copper Mastercraft Tires come directly from a company that has been doing the worrying of the safety of us and our families for close to one hundred years. It is Cooper that has a completely separate facility that is dedicated to the research that’s needed in order to create (and has the successful track record indicating that they have created) the best tire possible.
So, we don’t need to worry if the tire that our family is riding upon has been extensively tested to assure against unnecessary puncturing. Or when we come into that sharp turn as we head into the hills, we don’t need to let the slightest fear enter our heads wondering if the tire has been scrutinized for its traction. Because, the Cooper Mastercraft Tire has been. So, we can head off to our time off and bask in relaxation and worry free moments, because the Cooper Mastercraft will get us there. Its just all the other stuff we need to worry about.

The Street Legal Question
One of the most common questions to pop up from people looking to purchase a pocket bike for the first time is whether or not they are street legal. The general answer is no, and pocket bike racers point out that pocket bikes were never designed for street use, they were designed for track racing. Because of the diminutive size of pocket bikes, they are dangerous to use on public roads because many drivers can not see the bikes. Yet, because of the speed they can reach, too many people either assume they are legal to use on public streets, or just ignore the rules.
Pocket bikes are legal to own and race, but they are designed for private property or race tracks. Some states have gone to extreme measures to reinforce this point. Pocket bikes became major political issues in both Utah and Pennsylvania after individuals were badly hurt after an accident on a public street. Both states passed laws specifically banning those vehicles from public streets. Sections of California have taken the same steps.
Part of this response is due to the large increase in pocket bike sales. There are so many more pocket bikes around then even a few years back. Unfortunately, with the increase in pocket bikes, there is also a rise in the improper use of pocket bikes. These were designed for private property, and for racing, and are perfectly acceptable for both, but public streets were meant for basic transportation.
So the long and short of the street legal question is that pocket bikes are not street legal. Even in states where the rules are not specifically stated, pocket bikes are still technically not street legal because they are not designed for license plates, turn signals, and lights. Even if your state has not specifically passed laws banning their use on public streets, it is still a good idea to use the pocket bikes properly. Because of their small size and large speed, the pocket bikes can lead to bad accidents if used improperly, or even if there are used properly, accidents happen and it’s better to be with the ground than with a car. Play it safe, and pocket bikes can be a fun, accident-free fun.

Getting Kids Moving Can Be A Slam Dunk
Run, walk, jump, dance-do whatever it takes to get the whole family moving.
That's the advice parents are getting as the weight of the nation's children continues to climb.
According to the Mayo Clinic, the rate of obesity in the U.S. has more than doubled for preschoolers and adolescents, and it has more than tripled for children ages 6 to 11 in the past 30 years.
Fortunately, you don't need to get your child a personal trainer. Here are some tips to help:
• Be a good example. Take a walk. Go for a swim. Sign up for a class.
• Instead of always relying on the car, take walks with the kids, ride bikes.
• Take the kids to the park .
• Celebrate birthdays at parks, water parks, skating rinks and other active places.
• On weekends and during vacations, introduce kids to fun activities. Go swimming, hiking, ride bikes, jump rope, play tag, kickball, catch, any activity that involves motion.
• If it's raining outside, orga-nize a treasure hunt in the house, one that involves lots of running up and down stairs.
• Get kids interested in playing sports. Take them to games, if possible. You can also use entertaining movies such as "Like Mike 2: Streetball," in which legendary, magical high-tops find their way into the eager young hands of a pint-size basketballer with a big ambition: to rise to the top of the fast, gritty, no-holds-barred world of high-stakes "Streetball."
In this DVD, hoop dreams become a reality, as Jerome Jenkins Jr., or "Triple-J," earns the respect of his friends when the mysterious sneakers make him drive and dunk like the legendary Air Jordan. With hot streetball action and comedy, it's a feel-good movie that can get kids moving.
• Be sure to keep an open mind if your daughter wants to play ice hockey and your son prefers dance.
Children should do at least 30 minutes of exercise a day and 60 minutes if they want to lose weight.
Regular exercise can help improve the quality of your children's lives now and later on. It can help prevent diseases such as heart disease, cancer, high blood pressure and diabetes.

3 Bowling Techniques to Make a Strike or Spare
It is a strike, when all of the pins are knocked down "on the first ball of a frame."
Every bowler would like to hit a strike and score big to win with this action, but it is not merely a stroke of luck. Bowlers who want to make it big by hitting strikes more often than not have to work at it.
Like in any sport, great action comes in small packages, where the attention is focused on the techniques learned and used by that player. It is important for every player to know how to hone his or her skills to win the game.
So for those who wish to make a strike or a spare in order to win a match, here are three bowling techniques that they can use:
1. Spinner
This technique refers to the way of delivering a shot with the intention that no more than a minor part of the ball touches contacts the lane. This technique promotes less friction between the ball and the lane, not considering the "oiling pattern" of that lane. As a result the ball glides practically in a straight line down the lane.
Experts contend, however, that this kind of shot is not very successful in that it does not attempt to take full advantage of the dragging the power of the bowler.
2. Stroker
With this kind of technique, the bowler relies more on precision than strength. This technique is characterized by employing the "by the book" style of playing that entails the proper execution of even movements, keeping square shoulders to the target all the way through the release of the ball, and maintaining an on-time move at the "foul line."
This is the "classic" technique of most bowlers because it employs smooth and controlled movements and lessens the possibility of injuries.
3. Cranker
This is the kind of technique that is being employed by a bowler who relies more on his strength to deliver a good shot rather than accuracy. It is like 'hitting hard' when a bowler uses this technique.
The skill involves more adrenaline that constitutes the bowler's drive to win.
Usually, crankers use "late timing", they do not slide, attempt to get to the "foul line" earlier than the ball, and they bend their elbows to keep their hands at the back and beneath the ball.
There are no perfect techniques, but there is a particular technique for every player. The important thing is to create a strike or even a spare.

You’ve Got to Bet the Preakness
This Saturday, I’ll be back at the same sports bar where I watched the Kentucky Derby. If you read my Derby column, I told you to throw out a couple of favorites (Lawyer Ron and Brother Derek), and keep Barbaro, despite history being against him. Unfortunately, I also told you that I like America’s favorite bet, the exacta. The exacta always seems do-able, and offers a chance to win some real dollars. And in a field of 20, what were the chances of hitting the Trifecta? Sad to say, that darn Bluegrass Cat spoiled my day. This was a horse that, by all reports, was “the bust of 2006.” That’s why it’s called gambling. But Triple Crown races are events, and, if you are a sports fan, you’ve got to bet the Preakness.
This time, it’s all about value. Sure, Barbaro looked great in the Kentucky Derby, but is he the sure thing that many analysts and bettors make him out to be? Well, maybe. Which is the reason you’ll never get value betting on him this Saturday. At best, he’ll go off at even money. Keep in mind, until Smarty Jones won in 2004, it had been 25 years since an odds-on-favorite won the Preakness Stakes. You’ll hear a lot about “The Bounce Factor,” which says that horses tend to regress after particularly strong races, especially when they are coming back on short rest. And Barbaro is a horse that has never run with fewer than five weeks of rest.
Did you know that 21of the last 22 Preakness Winners ran in the Kentucky Derby? So, what about Brother Derek and Sweetnorthernsaint? Brother Derek, the morning line favorite for the Kentucky Derby, had major positioning problems in the Derby, and spent most of the race trying to break through a crowded 20-horse field. He lost a shoe and still finished fourth. He could be primed to run in the Preakness the race that many had expected him to run in the Derby. Sweetnorthernsaint, who ended up as the Derby favorite after a lot of late money was bet on him, also is one to watch. His Beyer speed figures were consistently better than those of Barbaro before the Derby. At 4-1, he may be a good bet.
Only three horses that ran in the Kentucky Derby will run in the Preakness, the smallest number in the last quarter century. So, given that, the odds would be better that a horse would break that 21 out of 22 streak which I mentioned earlier. Which new horses are possible contenders? Most analysts think Bernardini is the best of the newcomers. The term “Speed Freak” has been used for Diabolical, and that always perks up my ears. Like Now likes to gun it from the start, so, maybe, he’ll take the lead and keep it. Nothing about the other new horses excites me.
So, I’ll be splitting up my $50 with a variety of bets. Right now, an exacta of Sweetnorthernsaint and Bernardini seems like good value, and not too outlandish. Scrappy T, the best fresh horse last year, came in second. Diabolical as a long shot to win might be worth a try. As long as Brother Derek doesn’t slip to worse than 3-1, put him in some exacta bets. And, if you just can’t bear not betting on Barbaro, put him in a couple of trifectas that include a long shot. Have a drink and enjoy yourself; there’s only one more to go after this one.

"OTA’s" - What They Mean And What They Can Mean
In recent years in the NFL, the term "OTA" (Organized Team Activity) has come to the forefront this time of year. There are a few reasons for that. One is that the calendar reads May and June, and this is the time of year when activity is at its lowest. The draft is over, free agency, for all intents and purposes, is finished and coaches and staff members are going to cycle into their much-needed vacations.
Another, and perhaps more important reason, is that these OTA’s have come to mean much more to not only the team involved, but to individual players. There are several teams around the league this year that are holding OTA’s that could bear a direct correlation to on-the-field results in 2006. We’ll take a look at a few of them here.
Houston Texans
The Texans have officially cleaned house since the end of the 2005 season. The coach and GM have both moved on, and the team is attempting to implement an entirely new approach both on the field and off as it continues to search for a new general manager. There is a lot to be done in Houston, and the more work the team can get, the better.
Oakland Raiders
The Raiders have a new coach who’s trying to instill discipline and toughness on a team that has lacked both in recent years. They also have a new QB to acclimate to their offense, and Aaron Brooks needs that same dose of discipline that the rest of the team does, as he’s been error prone in recent years.
New Orleans Saints
For the Saints, everything starts anew this year. There is a new coach, a new QB coming off a serious injury and a new potential superstar whose complete role has yet to be defined. Sean Payton needs to make sure Drew Brees’ shoulder will hold up before he can fashion his offense, and Reggie Bush’s talents are so unique that they really don’t fit a template.
Green Bay Packers
The Packers have a new coach and a slew of young players attempting to earn starting spots all over the roster. Although Brett Favre has always operated in some form of the West Coast offense, he still needs to learn the nuances of Coach Mike McCarthy’s scheme. Their defense will feature several new starters and there’s a new defensive coordinator running the system.
Miami Dolphins
Although the Dolphins don’t have a new coach, they’re in a different situation than the teams above because they’re right on the cusp of the playoffs. In order to reach that potential, though, Coach Nick Saban will have to break in a new QB in Daunte Culpepper, assuming he’s healthy, and fine tune his overall system to ensure that the team takes that next step.
Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys are the choice by many to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. Bill Parcells has been building the team his way for two years, and he and Jerry Jones added a player who’s explosive in more ways than one in WR Terrell Owens. Parcells needs to integrate Owens into his offense and instill air-tight team chemistry to keep all the personalities in check. Every detail matters for a team that could go all the way, and Parcells is taking no chances.
Teams have different reasons for their OTA’s, but they are important. Even though they’re considered “voluntary” under the existing CBA, players’ chances to earn starting spots can be damaged if they’re absent, and teams with bigger dreams can have them dashed if they don’t hit the ground running in training camp in July. The teams we see playing into January will most likely be able to look back at a successful OTA season.

I’m A Villa Fan And I’m Scared!
It’s fair to say that the past twenty-five years of following Aston Villa Football Club has come with its fair share of ups and downs.
But I can honestly say I have never looked forward to a new football season with such an overwhelming feeling of pessimism.
I was fortunate enough to be born just in time to appreciate the glory years of the early eighties. The team built by Ron Saunders and then nurtured by Tony Barton brought much joy and happiness to at least half the city of Birmingham.
Unfortunately those days now seem an eternity ago and things are much different. I’m still trying to work out how Doug Ellis bought the champions of Europe in the summer of 1982 and then proceeded to guide them to relegation in just five years. That must surely be some kind of record.
These days things are only slightly better. The continual decline under David O’Leary’s guidance is causing serious cause for concern amongst the Villa faithful.
The final third of last season produced some of the worst football seen at Villa Park for some time and relegation fears were only dispelled in the final week of the season.
The only team worse than Villa at the end was Sunderland and they finished with the lowest points tally since the Premiership started.
The only highlight of a dreadful season was the derby victories over Birmingham, ultimately crucial in the battle for survival points.
The lack of transfer activity due to the never-ending take-over saga is a serious problem and one that could haunt the club come the end of the season.
But for now, we Villa fans can only cross our fingers and hope. O’Leary’s promise that last season’s dismal position was a one off has bought him extra time from Ellis, but many fans remain distinctly unconvinced.

What to Look for In Hybrid Golf Clubs
In some parts of the world, the golf season is just beginning for the year. Golf can be a huge part of some people's lives as a way to socialize with people, relax and do business deals. A lot of people even make it a way of live and live right on a golf course and at the same time they will do whatever they can do to make their golf game the best they can. Hybrid golf clubs are one of the things that can be used to improve your game.
Hybird golf clubs are still relatively new in the sport because we all know that the regular ones are usually made of iron or wood. Because they haven't been on the market for as long as other types of clubs, there can be some confusion on how to pick out the right ones for your game and to make improvements to your swing. The main problem with this is that if you pick the wrong ones you will be out some money and even worse -- it could hurt your game too!
One of the main things that you have to do is a lot of reading about different brands available because there are many different qualities to choose from. The best place to get your research done is the internet, local pro shop, magazines and your golfing buddies. The last thing that you want to do is make a hasty decision and spend your money on something that is going to end up not working for you.
You will also want to make sure that when you make your purchase, you buy them from a golf shop with a good reputation. In addition, make sure that the brand of the clubs that you buy are a good solid brand as well. Brands that have been in the market for a long time will have worked out all the issues with the clubs over time. Another thing that is fairly important to look at is the shape of the heads on the clubs. Pick ones that you are used to using and you should be on the right track.
Hybrid golf clubs are quickly becoming a big trend in the golfing industry today and becoming the popular choice for both amateurs and pros. Next time you are out on the course, try a set! It may improve your game.

Think About The Right Boat Before Bying It
The first thing you should know when choosing a boat is that no single boat will do everything. If your looking for a boat that inspires confidence, don't expect it to shine in light air. Boats that are exciting to sail on the weekends aren't the ideal boats for a passage through the ocean.
You shouldn't expect to find quick acceleration and load carrying capacity together with the same boat. You can buy a boat now to race or fish, then sail around later - as you can only do one or the other with a specific type of boat.
The logic to choosing the right boat is determining how you plan to use the boat. Think about why you want to own a boat, what you plan to do with it, and how you plan on using it.
For some, beauty is the first consideration. For sail boats beauty is very important, as you'll spend a majority of time floating and sailing around, with many people looking at your sail boat. With people looking at your vessel, you want to make sure that it looks nothing short of amazing.
If you are planning to race instead of cruise, then speed is your primary consideration. There are many cruising sailors out there who simply can't be happy unless their boats are moving very fast. The ideal boat for speed demons are those that can cut through the water, creating plenty of waves.
Fishermen on the other hand, want to look towards fishing boats. Trackers and other boats that are designed for fishing are ideal here. Fishing is one of the most popular boat activities, meaning that you'll have plenty of boats to select from.
When it comes down to it, selecting the right boat is up to you and what you plan to do with it. Take your time, weigh your options, and you'll have the right boat before you know it.

Chinese Swords: What to Know Before Buying
If you are looking for a sword worthy of battle you want to be sure and choose a blade that is made of high carbon steel or folded steel. What’s wrong with a stainless steel blade you might ask? Stainless steel blades are nice if you’re going to hang the sword on the wall. As a matter of fact, they’re often called “wall hangers”. Stainless steel blades simply are not made to stand up to the rigors of cutting and dojo exercises.
Two very popular makers of blades that are battle ready are Paul Chen and Cold Steel. Cold steel, although and American Company has most of their oriental blades forged in China. They have done well in replicating the look and feel of a well made Chinese sword at a very affordable price. Cold steel has a great video that you can usually get for free that shows professionals putting Cold Steel blades to the test. You can never go wrong with a Cold Steel Chinese sword or weapon.
However Paul Chen swords are quite a bit more popular in the United States and around the world. Most Paul Chen blades are forged with a technique called “differentially tempering”, meaning that the top of the blade is actually stronger then the edge, which means that it’s nearly impossible to break the blade when you’re really putting it to the test. You’ll probably pay a bit more for a Paul Chen sword than a Cold Steel but most people are happy to and believe it’s well worth the extra cost.
Another popular brand of swords is United Cutlery, which are mostly for show or hanging on your wall. United swords are usually much less expensive but are very nice for above the mantle or a great decorative piece for a study or office.
Probably one of the most popular Chinese swords that everybody wants to get there hands on right now is the Chinese Saber which was used by cavalrymen and foot soldiers in the rush of battle.
Whether you’re looking for a battle ready sword like the Paul Chen Zatoich Sword or one just to hang on the wall for decoration, you can be sure that it will add beauty and appeal to any room in your home or office.

Snowmobile safety
Snowmobile Helmets help.Following is an article by the staff of the Canadian publication SmartRisk and highlights the dangers associated with snowmobiling—a sport that is popular not only in Canada, but also in the U.S.”
Snowmobiling remains popular for Canadians seeking a fun recreational activity, or a versatile mode of winter transportation. But it also continues to top the list of winter's most lethal sports. The same is true in the U.S.
According to a study released in 2003 by the Canadian Institute for Health Information, 16% of severe sports and recreational injuries in Canada in 2000/2001 involved snowmobiles. That ranks second only to cycling (18%).
Most of those injured on snowmobiles were men in their early 30s. And of the 92 people admitted to hospital with snowmobile injuries, fully one quarter had drunk alcohol or taken drugs before heading out into the snow. Also, many were not wearing snowmobile helmets.
“The risk of serious injury can be significantly reduced by not consuming alcohol prior to snowmobiling, or prior to participating in any winter sports,” says Dr. Robert Conn, President and CEO of SMARTRISK. “People need to realize that by riding a snowmobile without a helmet or after they have been drinking, they are taking a huge risk which can have tragic consequences.”
Snowmobile help is readily available in Canada and the U.S. at sports centers and online. Use your browser to find online sources or snowmobile helmets; a click of your mouse could make the difference between having fun and having no life at all.
Check snowmobile parts. The working condition of your snowmobile is of utmost importance. There are now online sites where you can purchase snowmobile parts to maintain your machine in tip top condition.
A malfunctioning part cannot only ruin your snowmobile, but it can cause a serious and sometimes fatal accident. It is important to note that any sport or recreation that involves complicated machinery (such as a snowmobile or a motorcycle) requires constant vigilance to maintain that machine in good and safe running order.

The Lifted Truck Experience, Fun For Everyone
Lifted trucks are very popular with people who like the monster truck look. This is predominantly popular with men who are in their twenties or younger but there is no gender or age limitations when it comes to lifted trucks. They are a lot of fun but can be expensive to accomplish. Before lifting your truck, be sure to check with local laws to determine if there are any restrictions on how high you can raise your truck. Some states have limitations. A professional who is experienced in lifting trucks will likely know what the legal limit is however it is best to also research this yourself before spending a lot of money on lifting a truck only to find out that it is illegal.
You should also be an experienced driver to drive lifted trucks. Because they are so far off the ground, they can be difficult to drive properly. This allows for a road hazard in case someone is hit. Because the trucks is so heavy and is far off the ground, the angle of impact can do a lot of damage to the person who was hit. Lifted trucks take longer to stop, are more difficult to control, have a higher risk of rollover and have a bumper height that is level to the windows of many vehicles. This can be very dangerous and pose a hazard. When teenagers who have a tendency to be a bit less safe drivers are behind the wheel of lifted trucks, this can be very dangerous.
Lifting a truck is not inexpensive either. While it is a great way to express your individuality you have to be able to afford it. Lifted trucks can be done at a body shop or mechanic who is skilled at doing this type of modification to a vehicle. They can be found by looking in a local telephone directory or searching online for a location in your area. Always get several quotes before determining which place to go to and ask how long it will take for the process to be complete before committing to one place.

Scuba Diving Equipment
Serious scuba diving entails more than just the basic gears of the beginner diver. The diver needs more than just his set of mask, fins, regulator, oxygen tank, and wet suit to ensure the diver’s safety.
For external data that the diver should know, the assistance of a diving computer is essential. The diving computer provides information on the amount of time needed for decompression and even the depth of the dive itself. It also gauges data such as the levels of nitrogen content in the bloodstream, or decompression sickness that could be fatal to the diver’s life.
It would be wise to compare brands of diving computers before actually making a purchase. Aside from considering factors such as cost, quality and accuracy of the machine should also be weighed out. One effective way of doing this would be to search for reviews of the products and gather consensus of those who have bought and used it in their dives.
After buying one’s personal choice it would be prudent to study and understand the features and commands of the equipment. It should be known by heart, in the same way that a beginner is trained to deal with various situations that can happen to him under water. To get used to operating the product, it would be advisable to use its functions little be little in short-term expeditions.
Various unforeseen accidents can occur to a diver, especially when he is underwater. One trick is not to panic and to remain calm. Fear is a diver’s greatest enemy since it can blur out good judgment and training. Besides, another aspect that should be checked from time to time is the relaxed breathing of the diver. Panic can cause hyperventilation or worse, rapid ascent towards the surface can cause bubbles to form in the body’s tissues that could cause lack of sensation, immobility, or death.

General Horses Info
Horse info provides some interesting facts about horses in general. Horses being herd animals are known to follow their herd leader for food and safety. This capability of a horse allows a human rider to act like a herd leader and make the horse learn and follow instructions. It takes a good amount of training with proper positive and negative inducements to make a horse compliant and easy to ride.
Since ancient times horse has always been a domestic animal. Being of domestic help, the training methods also date back to ancient times. This applies to horse breeding as well.
A herd of horses consists of a number of female horses (mares) and immature horses with just a few males (stallions.) The leader mare is called alpha mare.
Horse Gaits
In general, a horse can walk with four different types of gaits: walk, trot, canter, and gallop.
A horse walk is very simple. He flags on one of his four legs in the air at any give time. Horses are trained to walk on subtle cues like squeezing the sides or releasing and pulling up the reins.
A horse trot or jog results when his foreleg and the opposite hind leg simultaneously touch the ground. There are different ways a horse might trot. Example: sitting or a posting trot.
Canter or lope is a three beat gait in which his foreleg and the opposite hind leg simultaneously hit the ground, but the other two legs work in isolation with each other.
A galloping horse uses two paired legs to propel itself with full speed. Example: the way a horse runs in races.
Thoroughbred Horses
The thoroughbred horse breed came into existence in the 18th century in England. It was the time when mares were crossbred with imported Arabian stallions. The breed that came into existence with this experiment is well known for its distance running abilities and used in races.

Billiards, The game that almost anyone can learn and play.
Billiards is a pretty cool game because about anyone can play the game. You don’t have to be a certain age or height and it doesn’t take much physical strength to play the game.
We had a table in my parents basement when I was growing up and I have been hitting the balls around ever since I can remember. You might say that playing pool has always been a pretty big part of my life.
We have many billiards leagues here in Pueblo Colorado and you will find players of all ages and sizes. There are a couple billiards leagues that allow minors 18 and above to play and several Rec. rooms with no age limits. We have a 10 year old in town who has been playing league for several years and he is quite competitive.
We also have a couple pool players in wheel chairs as well as a few other disabilities. Pool is a great sport that everyone can play.
I play in the BCA National Billiards Tournament every May in Las Vegas. There you will find players of all ages, male and female who all play pretty strong. You better run out or control the table with a safety when you get a shot or you may have no chance to win.
My five year hold has already been shooting pool here and there for a few years now. He started out standing on an ice chest and then went to a milk crate. He is just now able to start shooting from the floor.
His game could be good if he would get into practicing and playing by himself once in a while. He always wants me or his mom to play with him. He loses interest fairly quick right now, but I am sure that as he gets better, the game will get in his blood.
Playing pool is a great way to pass the time. If you are competitive it’s a great way to compete. If you are a pool player, Have you studied the fundamentals of billiards?
I would recommend taking a course and or reading a book about the fundamentals of pool and billiards. Try typing pool billiards tips into google and see what you come up with.

The Mannings: Models of Sportsmen
Peyton and Eli Manning are brothers and NFL players. Peyton is a quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts and embraces numerous NFL passing records, including the record for touchdown passes in a single season: 49 in 2004; and consecutive seasons with over 4,000 yards passing: 6 from 1999 through 2004. He also holds most school passing records at the University of Tennessee.
Eli is the starting quarterback for the New York Giants. Eli helped his team to secure the NFC Eastern Division Title. In the regular season finale, he threw a 78 yard laser to Burress helping his team to a big lead. While the Giants were quickly eliminated in a brutal performance against the Carolina Panthers the following week 23-0, Eli's first full season was seen as a success. He threw for nearly 3,800 yards, tossed 24 touchdowns to only 17 interceptions, and rallied his team to several exciting fourth quarter comebacks.
But this weekend Peyton and Eli are working together in South Louisiana. They're helping many young players get their minds off their homes that were damaged by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.
Peyton and Eli Manning are conducting sessions at the Manning Passing Academy at Nicholls State University.
This academy was founded by former Saints quarterback Archie Manning, who is also Peyton and Eli’s father and has been helping high school-age players from all around the country work on passing, running and receiving skills for around 11 years. A crowd that included coaches and college players assisted to help out.
Shortly after Katrina, during the 2005 football season the two star quarterback brothers were between the first celebrities to be seen on the ground in Louisiana, unloading relief supplies for the victims of the disaster.

Athletes Foot
Almost half the world-wide market for athletic shoes is right here in the US. Thanks to an aggressive marketing plan and succession of shrewd endorsements, it has been dominated by the Nike “swoosh”. In a business saturated with players, Nike’s 36% market share represents a substantial margin over the competition.
How much is 36% of the market? Only sales in the neighborhood of $7.2 billion, that’s all. Enough cash to buy every franchise in the NBA. Isn’t it just a little ironic a company that propelled it’s period of rapid growth on a product launch and endorsement campaign grounded on the NBA’s brightest star, could on a whim, buy the whole league?
Not everything is rosy for Nike in the athlete’s foot market. Of the 50 or so “other manufacturers”, number two Adidas has completed a move to present a major challenge.
Athletic footwear is divided into two sectors. Competitive which drives innovation to set the mainframe, and fashion which spins casual wear market entries off from the mainframe. Around the rest of the world, Adidas has long been the leader in competitive footwear. It was Adidas that really started it all, sneaking their 3 stripe trademark past stringent Olympic and World Cup sponsorship regulations of the 1950’s to give birth to a whole new industry
Adidas has acquired number 3 Reebok for $3.8 billion, giving them a 21 percent US market share. Most significant about this deal is Reebok holds a much firmer grip on the fashion market than Adidas ever has. Each brand will keep it’s identity, but expect to see some new forms cross brand marketing invented to capitalize on the strenghts of each. The Reebok brand blended into the Adidas mix means a savvy competitor for Nike to deal with across the full market range. Expect Nike to dig deep and find creative ways to fight them off.
The big business of whose sport shoe they put on their feet assures consumers a new round of innovative choices will be soon on the way.

Mastercraft Tires - Driving With Style
The contributions of the American company on the landscape of the United States in its history and contemporary makeup have an absolutely wide varied place its difficult to comprehend at times. Without question, though, a contribution that certainly went beyond the community development and needed product provider that is so commonly connected with various companies, was that if plant usage in the World War II effort made by so many companies. Such was the case with the future producers of the Mastercraft Tire when the hard goods point of their production facilities was transformed into a production plant for such items as: pontoons, landing boats and other military goods in 1941.
Its probably little more than an interesting anecdote to today’s consumers of Mastercraft Tires, but it seems to set a reasonable precedence for a company that has seemingly continued to give to its country of origin. The makers of Mastercraft Tires, the Cooper Tire and Rubber Company, has led the industry in several safety innovations, grew into a fortune 500 company and lasted through tumultuous corporate restructuring times to remain as one of only two tire companies to last as U.S. owned.
The company has continued its historical track record of existing well beyond than simply a firm that produces goods and collects the revenues. The company has held safety in such high regard that it established a joint effort, along with the National Safety Council, to create and implement a safety program and campaign that was dedicated to youth education.
Today Mastercraft Tires remain a tire of quality and safety to consumers which place both in high regard, but nothing less should be expected from a company that has continued to surpass expectations

Pool Tournament Eve and Can’t Sleep.
The title Pool Tournament Eve above would be more accurate if it said day instead of eve. As I type this article, 4:36 in the morning, March 1, 2008, I should be sleeping.
Tomorrow is the annual Dr Cue Tournament here in Pueblo Colorado. Billiards is pretty popular here in Pueblo. This tournament is the largest held here. Players come from all over the State of Colorado and sometimes a few other states. We have 2 BCA (Billiards Congress of America) National Champions residing here in Pueblo along with many other players who shoot lights out.
Dr. Cue (Tom Rossman) puts on a trick shot exhibition the night before the tournament. I attended this show last night where I payed my entry fee of $40 and watched Tom put on a great show as usual.
The pool hall where this tournament is played is about 15 minutes from my house. I made it home by 10:30 PM and finally fell asleep around 11:30. Right on nice job. Get some rest before the tournament. Not.
My eyes popped open around five till two and I have not been able to get back to sleep. Thursday night wasn’t much better because I only slept about 4 hours. I am hoping that writing this post gets me tired.
I will be bringing my lap top to this tournament and plan to report on the event between my matches. I will also be bringing my video camera which is also a pretty cool digital camera. This should make for some cool reporting and hopefully some interesting and exciting content.
Between a couple of brain freeze attacks and and watching some billiards on my DVR another half hour has gone by. It is now 5 in the morning and I must be present in the pool hall by 10:00 AM. Ouch. Don’t they know that pool players are not early risers by nature?
Well maybe my plan is working. I just experienced a yawning attack. I think I will attempt to get about 3 or 4 more hours sleep time in before the big Dr Cue Pool Tournament today.
That’s it for now.

Pool Billiards Equipment. Many people search for this term.
According to my software, 3,750 people search for the term pool billiards equipment every month. This is kind of a strange sounding set of search words.
I typed it into Google search and there were 251,000 results. What I mean here is that you could click on a quarter of a million links from Google search related to the term.
There are hundreds of items which could be classified as pool billiards equipment. For me the word equipment sounds like larger items such as pool tables and billiard cues. The search results however bring up everything from hand and billiards chalk to the mechanical bridge.
When I look for my billiard supplies on line that is the term that I type into the search engine. (billiard supplies) Most times however I will type the individual item which I am looking for. When looking for a cue, I simply type in pool cue or billiards cue. If I am looking for a particular brand I will type the name in as well. (JOSS, Viking, Balabushka etc.)
The Internet has truly changed the way that I shop for and purchase billiard accessories. I was talking with a friend that owns a billiards store and he said it has put a big decrease on his in store sales as well.
Doesn’t it just make sense to search for and purchase your billiard items on line?
You can find exactly what you are looking for most of the time and you don’t have to leave your house to find it. You also have a wide variety of choices on where you buy. With a few searches and a little reading you can be sure to get the best prices available.
Next time you are looking for some form of pool billiards equipment, give the search engines a try and see what comes up. I’ll bet you will be pleased with the large amount of information and product lines you will find.
If you need help or advice when purchasing your pool and billiards equipment just send me a note or question.

Choosing The Right Knife For Your Outdoor Sport
There are many different types of knives available, and as with many other tools, if you don't have the right one, it's likely to cause problems. Here are a few tips for choosing the right knife for your outdoor sport.
Hunting
Most hunting knives are designed for skinning. If you want your knife to be good for skinning, the main thing you should pay attention to is the blade shape. You want a rounded or drop point so that when you are “ripping” the skin, the point of your knife will not dig into the meat.
Also, you'll probably want a fixed blade knife, as folding blades have to many crevices to trap blood and mess in.
Camping
Choosing a knife for camping can be tough, because you need a versatile knife. For this reason, you'll often find that a swiss army knife or multi tool may fill your needs best. Also, you may want to add a saw, hatchet, or machete to your pack before you leave, for tougher cutting jobs.
Fishing
You should probably get a fillet knife for fishing. A fillet knife is well designed for cleaning fish, and it can also cut fishing line well, which is the other main task for a fishing knife. If you plan on fishing in salt water, be sure your knife is designed to withstand the corrosion of saltwater.
Trapping
Trappers will generally want a a skinning knife, much like a hunting knife. Tougher tasks are normally done with an axe, so a second knife isn't normally necessary.
Boating
A boaters main need for a knife is cutting line. You'll need a sharp knife, that is easily accesible and quickly deployed, in case you need to cut a line in a hurry. Be sure that the knife will stand up to wet conditions, too.

Tent Choices
Your choice of tent has a direct effect on your camping vacation. It will definitely make it or break it. Do your homework before you buy a tent so you won't be disappointed.
First you must decide what type of camping you are going to be doing. Are you going to be back packing or are you doing car camping? Car camping is where you pull your car up to a base camp site.
If you are backpacking it goes without saying that you'll want as lightweight a tent as you can find and also one that will withstand expected weather conditions. You may want to look into a warm weather tent or single wall tent if you're camping in summer weather conditions. If you decide you want the comfort of a larger tent, and if you need a 3-season or 4-season tent each backpacker can carry some of the tents components to lighten the load for each.
If you are car camping then the weight of the tent is not a problem for you. Most families do car camping. The ACA or American Camping Association and KOA or Kampgrounds of America have thousands of camp sites all over the country. You can check their online web sites for information. These sites generally are tree shaded with an area for a grill to be set up. Most have facilities within easy walking distance such as a bathroom, shower, pool and even sometimes light food restaurants.
What you will always want to keep in mind, no matter what type of camping you do is what type of weather you will be camping in.
As mentioned above there are 3-season and 4-season tents. 4-season tents are heavier than 3-season. They are made to withstand heavier winds and rain and the weight of snow on them. Generally if you camp between May and September a 3-season tent will suit your needs.
First you must decide what type of camping you are going to be doing. Are you going to be back packing or are you doing car camping? Car camping is where you pull your car up to a base camp site.

The History Of Chess
Chess is widely considered to be the oldest of all board games as it is a sport in more than a few countries, and a test of skill played by millions the world over and it is gaining popularity day by day. The Modern chess sets have 32 pieces, 16 black and 16 white, on a board comprised of 64 squares and with this finite arrangement of figurines and playing surfaces has led to a wide variety of chess sets over the years.
Chess and history:
The history helps one to learn the history and mythology of the Vikings as you sail your ship to far-off lands, conquering countries and winning treasures. Due to its historical significance it is seen that there are a lot of historical attributes that add to the kind of quality it has with a different set of rules and the game is played differently. In the western countries the extension of the powers of the queen made it easier to enforce checkmate in the endgame and the set of rules differ from place to place and so does the history.
Chess sets and cartoon characters:
The best example is the hand painted and that gives it an artistic look to it with features all of the endearing characters from the wonderful world of Winnie the Pooh. It is a great opportunity to Capture memories of childhood or introduce your children or grand children to these timeless characters as the children are fond of them. The fine details such as noses, horses ear's, swords, daggers and flag staffs could be snapped of if treated too roughly. There is a great variety of other themes chess page where there is a great collection of marble, onyx, fossil coral and soapstone chess sets together to create an interest for chess among the players who intend to play chess.

Climbing And Fear
Climbing is no different from any other activity to the extent that fear can be a huge barrier or, if used properly, a significant ledge upon which we can launch our favorite outdoor activity.
Fear can play a significant part in our everyday lives. Fear on the job, as a spouse or parent, or even driving can hold us back and prevent us from achieving our goals. Likewise, fear of climbing and everything it brings with it, can hold us back.
Just as preparation and training of your body is essential to be a safe and successful climber, so to must you prepare your mind. Strength and balance are good and useful, but even more important is an accurate understanding of the challenges and dangers. Only then will you be able to deal with them. Like life itself, if we know and understand our fears we are then able to overcome them and go on to greater heights and challenges.
How do you deal with the fear? While the sport does involve equipment and support from fellow climbers, it still is just one person at a time in contact with the rock. And, unless you can deal with and understand that, you are setting yourself up for great disappointment.
Understand that with rock climbing you must get into your subconscious fears that lie deep within us all. If you do that and work through the inner issues in your mind, you're set to enjoy this wonderful, inspiring sport.
Business experts have shown that fear of failure can be a great motivator to achieve heights that many never imagined possible. Understanding your fears, whether in rock climbing or business or relationships, can push you to greater and greater heights.

Bird Watching – Writing What You See
No bird watcher is complete without his or her bird watching journals. When you go bird watching, you need to keep your life list.
The Life List
If you are or become an avid bird watching enthusiast, you’re going to need to keep records. The reason for this is you want to keep a running list of the various bird species you’ve seen. Since there are a zillion species, the list can become quite long. Frankly, it becomes a life long project that is very enjoyable. Trust me, you’ll start planning vacations and trips around it. A business trip will soon evolve into a chance to see new species.
Part and parcel to your bird watching life list is your journal. Some bird watchers combine these two while others keep them separate. The bird watching journal is used to fill out your sightings. Information kept in the journal includes things like where you were, whom you were with, the weather conditions, the lighting, time of day and your overall impressions from the sighting.
When keeping your journal and lists, you are going to have sightings of species you’ve seen previously. Most bird watchers will add such sightings to their journals, but not their life lists. The reason for this is there may be peculiar or significant factors in the sighting. Perhaps the bird is not typically found in the area in question or perhaps it is exhibiting some unique characteristic.
New Sightings
When it comes to bird watching, there is no greater joy then sighting a bird you have never seen before. Often called “life birds”, the sighting can be added to your life list and is a feather in your cap. When you first start watching birds, you’ll obviously have a lot of new sighting. As time passes, however, they will become less frequent and you will come to enjoy and value them even more.
Bird watching is an addictive hobby. Part of the thrill is watching your life list grow and reading through your journal of sightings.

Generating Excitement At Sporting Events
From August through March, sports enthusiasts everywhere can be found watching their favorite college football or basketball games at tailgating parties, picnics, campsites or at home.
Because most remote sports gatherings have become high-tech, the use of satellite TVs, microwave ovens, computers and even blenders to whip up party drinks is becoming more the norm than the exception. And the common denominator is power. Enter the portable generator.
Once reserved only for emergencies, the portable generator has become the real power behind today's tailgate parties. Manufacturers such as Honda Power Equipment are designing generators that are powerful, lightweight, fuel efficient and that provide clean power necessary for sensitive electronics.
"Choosing the right generator is easy: Just select the appliances you'll want to operate and match the output of the generator to your needs," says Tom Pernice, Marketing and Product Planning at Honda Power Equipment. (You can find a handy wattage calculator at www.honda.com.) "Look for a quiet generator that won't disturb other tailgaters."
These tips will help you get the most out of your generator: Be sure to pack a power strip for plugging in multiple appliances, and because games can run into overtime, take along extra gas for the generator-stored in an approved safety container.
For the party itself, don't forget wet wipes for sticky hands, extra chairs for drop-in guests, personalized beverage containers so guests won't mix up their glasses or cups, and enough water to extinguish hot charcoal. Postgame, enjoy leftovers while you clean up and wait for the traffic to dissipate. Then plan for the next party.
Power to the people: A portable generator can add a lot to an outdoor tailgate party-or other special event.
Plugging in to the fun of a sporting event can be even more electrifying when you bring along a portable generator.

Dirt Bike Helmets
Since Dirt Bike riders spend most of their time doing stunts, racing, riding on steep hills, uneven ground and rough terrain, the Helmet becomes the most important component of a Dirt bike safety gear. Choosing the right Dirt Bike Helmet should not be based only on the style or graphic design but on the degree of protection, safety and comfort it can provide.
The Full Face Helmet, with its wrap around design, is the head-gear which offers the most protection for Dirt Bike riders because it guards the whole head. This type of helmet also shields the wearer from rain, wind, insects, dirt and cold. However, it can muffle external noises, and happens to be the most expensive type of Helmets.
The Half Helmet offers good protection for the top and the temple area of the head, including the ears. This type of Helmet is preferred by many Dirt Bikers because of its convenience in putting on and taking off, unlike the Full Face type. The Half Helmet is also designed to provide adequate peripheral views. However, it does not offer enough protection for the frontal part of the head.
An Open-Face Helmet offers good protection for the head, neck, ears, and eyes. It also has a face shield that opens up which can be very convenient. Though this type shields the wearer from rain, wind, insects, dirt, cold, etc, it a very good safeguard for injuries to the face, chin, teeth, and nose area.
Even if the chin strap is fastened, a loose Helmet can be uncomfortable and unsafe. Before buying any Helmet for your Dirt Bike, make sure you choose one that fits your head comfortably, which will not flop around while riding or making sharp turns. Lastly, always remember to check if your Dirt Bike Helmet is a SNELL or DOT certified or not.

What Is A Kitewing?
You propably know what a Kite is, but have you heard about the Kitewing?
The kitewing is a lightweight hand–held wing shaped as a kite that can be used for sailing on ice, snow and land with a pair of skis, skates or a snowboard. This is done in wintertime. For summer use one can sail with the wing using roller blades, a mountainboard or a skateboard. I haven´t yet made it in summer, but winter usage is really cool. I mainly ride at frosen lakes, but snow-covered open spaces like moun-tains are maybe even better - You just need some more wind to get it going in the mountains. On plain ice you just need a little as 4-5 m/s of wind.
I´m no extreme rider, but some other people have found out that the wing is also capable of doing jumps. Well, several 100 meters is maybe more flying than jumping? The current world record from 2004 is 505 meters (1666 feet) made by a Kitewing team rider and helicopter pilot Andreas Laurent.
If you like speed the wing gives you a good ride. In optimum conditions, you can reach speeds between 60-80 km/h, but the speed record on ice was 107 km/h the last time I heard about it.
I have found out that people interested in Kitewing riding are usually also interested in snowboarding, downhill ski-ing, windsurfing, mountain boarding and other action sports. So if you are into those sports you might get hooked. And if compared with wind surfing, this sport is easier to learn and the Kitewing has much better jumping qualities. The good jumping quality is because the symmetrical wing can be turned quickly into horizontal position - the sail can literally be transformed to a flying wing.

Tips For Choosing A Camping Spot
Planning on going camping? Great! One of the first things you need to do is choose a spot. Here are several factors you should consider when choosing a camping spot, as well as a few tips for finding a good one.
Accessibility
How are you going to get to your camping spot? Is it a “drive up camping spot” or is access via a foot trail. If access is via a foot trail, I would suggest finding a spot with a half mile or less hike for your first trip.
Views / Attractions
What's at the camping spot? Does it have good views? No sense going and camping in a boring place when there are many beautiful camping spots available.
Water
Does your camping spot have access to clean water? If not, you'll have to pack in all of the water you need, including plenty to put out the fire with.
Firewood
Is there access to firewood at the camping spot. If you want a campfire, you don't want to have to carry in the wood you'll need! Be sure that you are allowed to harvest firewood for the area you are going. In most areas, you are allowed to pick up dead wood, but not cut down live trees. Live trees do not burn well, anyway.
Campability
If you're going into “uncharted areas” or plan on camping where there is no established camping spot, be sure that the terrain is such that you can pitch your tent without rolling down a hillside or sleeping on the rocks all night.
Tips for finding a spot
Here are a few places you can start looking for camping spots:
Local state parks
Local national forests
Your local city/county water supply lake
Ask friends who camp
Search online for “camping your state here” etc.
Be safe...and have fun!

TeddyBears - Did you know?
Teddy bears date back to the early twentieth century, but the origin of the name is uncertain. The most popular story is that then-US President Theodore ‘Teddy’ Roosevelt refused to kill an injured bear on a bear-hunting trip, choosing to spare its life instead. This story was then picked up by the newspapers, especially cartoonists, leading one enterprising shop that sold toy bears to label them ‘Teddy’s Bears’ in the window.
The original teddy bears are generally considered to come from Germany, where they were made by the Steiff company and exported to the US. Unlike previous attempts at toy bears, they were not fierce looking, with the makers instead going for a more appealing, although unrealistic, cute look. The bears were an immediate huge seller, with a craze that you could easily compare to the ‘90s Beanie Baby fever, and teddies today are still the biggest-selling toy animal by far. As teddies were still being handmade rather than mass-produced, this led to a huge number of people becoming employed in bear-making almost overnight.
During the First World War, teddy bears from Germany were impossible to get, which led other countries to start producing them and building up their own unique teddy styles. The Second World War, however, led to a decline in teddy bear manufacture, as the resources simply couldn’t be spared, and it wasn’t until the ‘50s that they became popular again. When they came back, though, it was with a vengeance, just like bananas and other things that had been unavailable during the war. Today, we are still in this age of teddy mass production.
Teddy bears have since become an enduring children’s toy, as well as a popular theme of children’s stories, such as Paddington Bear, Winnie the Pooh and the Teddy Bears’ Picnic. Because of many adults’ nostalgia for the pre-war hand-crafted bears, a whole industry of ‘bear artists’ making expensive, individual bears has sprung up alongside the cheap toys, and teddy bears remain popular as gifts as well.

Breeders’ Cup races have doubled their purses since its beginning in 1984, when they started with a $10 million purse. Last time purses increased was before the 2003 Breeders’ Cup when the Breeders’ Cup Mile and the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile were increased to 1.5 million dollars.
This situation is turning the Breeders’ Cup into the richest race of all, giving its property even more value than ever. It is formed by eight races: the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies, the Bessemer Trust Breeders' Cup Juvenile, the Emirates Airline Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf, the TVG Breeders' Cup Sprint, the NetJets Breeders' Cup Mile, the Emirates Airline Breeders' Cup Distaff, the John Deere Breeders' Cup and the Turf Breeders' Cup Classic - Powered by Dodge.
This race is a determining factor in Horse of the Year honors. The Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships is a series of thoroughbred horse races sponsored by the National Thoroughbred Racing Association. It is a one-day event that takes place every year at a different location. It has always taken place in the United States; the one year that was in another country was in 1996, when the races were at the Woodbine Racetrack in Canada.
The horse racing event was created as a championship for North American thoroughbred racing, but it also attracts top horses from other parts of the world, especially Europe and during recent years, the Middle East.

Billiard. What exactly is the definition of this word?
What is Billiard? I mean what is the true definition?
We hear people talk about playing pool or sometimes it is referred to as billiards. I did some research and found that billiards is of course the plural of billiard.
The definition to me has always been a ball deflecting off another and striking another. (target) like a Carom. (Three Cushion Billiards)
I did a search on Ask dot com.
Most of the online dictionaries including Webster’s referred to it as the singular of Billiards. The first result on the Ask dot com page defined it as an adjective and stated see also Carom.
Below I provided Wikipedia’s definition.
A billiard is a dynamical system where a particle alternates between motion in a straight line and specular reflections with a boundary. When the particle hits the boundary it reflects from it without loss of speed.
This means that if you hit the edge of the one ball with the edge of the cue ball, and then the cue ball travels along the tangent line and strikes the nine ball, you have executed a billiard.
Last night in a BCA Pool League match, I had solids (small number balls) and my opponent had stripes. One of my solids was right behind one of his stripes and that particular striped ball was next to the corner pocket. I hit the edge of my solid ball thin and the cue ball rolled into the stripe, putting it in the pocket and then stopped behind my solid ball.
I made a billiard on his stripe and executed a safety in the same shot. Cool. My opponent failed to hit one of his stripes on the next shot and I took cue ball in hand and ran the rack. Thanks to a billiard and safety shot, I was able to win the game.
Billiard shots will come up quite often if you know what to look for. I wrote this article to help you understand the true meaning of the word billiard. I still think of the above examples as a carom.

A Nice Billiard Light can really dress up your pool room.
Are you looking for a billiard light?
A nice light can put a nice touch of class in your pool - billiards room. The light in my pool room is custom made. My buddy made this light about 20 years back.
The light is made out of wood and on one side it is carved out to say “2 Bad 4 U” and the other side reads “2 Hot 4 U”. I did not think of this. My friend put these phrases on my light and delivered it to me just like that.
If you have a partying kind of pool room, you may want to go with one of those plastic fixtures like Budweiser or Coors makes. You can also find some cool plastic fixtures with billiards graphics on them.
If your table is i a large and spacious room with nice furniture all through the house, you might consider brass or some kind of fancy fixture.
Which ever way you go, remember to get the right size of light for your table and hang it low enough to make the table bright. I have a 4 foot florescent fixture in my custom made shade. These 2 4 foot bulbs light up my 7 foot Valley table nicely.
I have seen some lights that even have the sliders on them for scoring your match. I would suggest doing some shopping on line before buying the first light that you see.
There are many lights to choose from and chances are you will have your new light for a very long time. Taking a little extra time in picking out your billiard light can certainly be worth while.
When looking for your new light, take note on how the light is turned off and on. I like the ones that turn on with one switch. I have seen lights with 3 or 4 individual bulbs and they all need to be turned on separately. (Kind of a pain in the neck)
I hope this article helps you out a little while selecting A new light for your pool room or billiards parlor.

Buying Your Kayaking Equipment - A Beginners Guide
Having a new kayak is a fun, exciting adventure. But it is important to know about the right accessories for you new hobby.
If you are going to buy a kayak, you have to think long and hard about your kayak equipment. The equipment is significantly more important than the kayak itself. You should always buy kayaking equipment before you buy the boat. That way, you will buy the best equipment and will not buy cheaply made items because you spent all your money on the boat.
If you don't have the best equipment, you will have a kayaking experience that is far less enjoyable than it otherwise would have been. Here is an equipment list:
Life jackets
Foot wear
Wet suit
Paddles
Paddle float
Spray skirts
Dry bags
Kayak
Each of those items are completely essential to buy if you plan to own and use your kayak. Without the right equipment, you will enjoy your kayaking experience less. The most essential piece of equipment is the paddles. Without dependable paddles, you will have trouble paddling, and you will not enjoy your kayaking adventure as much as you would have.
Wet suits may not be necessary for everyone. Wet suits are necessary only if you plan to kayak in cold weather and cold water. This is usually for professional kayakers and extreme-kayaking fans.
It's important to remember life jackets! This is a vital piece of equipment. You could get into rough water or roll in your kayak and find yourself with no way of keeping your head out of the water. Not wearing one is against the law and dangerous to your safety. Make sure that your flotation devices fit you and your passengers properly and that you have extra one in the boat.
When you have taken care of these kayaking requirements, you will be prepared to take your boat on the water!
Hopefully this article will help you on your way to enjoying this great sport.

Bowl Crazy, Cash Smart
If you can track them all, take a look at the line-up of college football teams that make it to bowl games in what has, over time, grown to become a blur of bowls, and it’ hard not to wonder if a qualifying criteria exists.
There is, but with 27 or by some counts 28 bowl games on the schedule, organizers have to dip deep into pool to come up with enough teams to fill the spots. The set minimum standard of a .500 season and six wins to get an invitation has set the bar rather low.
They can’t all be classic match-ups. With 117 Division Ia teams taking 54 Bowl spots there’s no way. But hey, with more than $190 million to be divided up among participants and an average Bowl game attendance of 51,879 does it really matter? It adds up to a pretty good shot in the arm for a lot of athletic programs.
If there is a flaw it’s the rich get richer and harder to catch. Roughly $139 million of that $190 pay-out goes to the eight big Bowl participants.
That’s lots of action packaged up over 16 days of the holiday season. Stick television in that package too. Network broadcast hours will top the hundred mark. Consider too that these games are more than a few hours of parking one’s butt at the stadium come game time. They are the impetus for organization of week long festivals of spending in host cities.
Just as the pay-out for all Bowl games cannot be equal, the economic impact of tourism and spending on a host region can not all be like the Rose Bowl. The $$$ that festival generates is the grandmother of them all and the model to shoot for.
It’s hard to be picky about a name when corporations are lining up to throw sponsorship money at organizers to the tune of $30 million like FritoLay put into the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. It’s serious money. Serious enough, fans who mightn’t be impressed with the rhyme have to agree with the reason.

A Look at Ivory Chess Sets
Ivory chess sets have a long and distinguished history, going back nearly to the advent of the game itself. Ivory has been used for many centuries in the construction of chess sets. Some of the earliest chess pieces still in existence are made of ivory.
The British Museum displays a few ivory chess pieces from the 7th and
8th centuries found in modern day Uzbekistan. These ancient chess pieces are in a different form than modern day chess pieces because they come from a time when chess was primarily an Islamic game. The pieces had a much different appearance because they reflected a different society. In the 19th century, Nathaniel Cook and John Jaques created the first set of Staunton chess pieces out of ivory. The Staunton style of chess pieces became the standard that is still in use today.
Ivory is not nearly as common today as it was hundreds of years ago when historical ivory chess sets were made. Now, ivory chess sets are usually only for collectors. Vintage ivory chess sets can sell for many thousands of dollars, while new ivory chess sets rarely sell for under $900. New Ivory chess sets are extremely rare because ivory is much harder to come by. Though ivory was once commonly used in the construction of many objects, it is now rarely used due to animal rights issues and the advent of plastic.
One main reason why ivory is rare now is because many people object to animals such as elephants and mammoths being killed in order to cultivate the ivory from their teeth and tusks. Imitation ivory is a good modern alternative because it is much less expensive and does not use any animal parts.

Your Football Glory Isn't a Thing of the Past
A new national organization is providing a fun way for former football players to stay active and in the game.
American Football Alumni unites former high school, college and professional players and coaches so they can reconnect with old teammates and make new friends. But besides its extensive networking opportunities, the organization offers members information and support on how to use their football disciplines to further themselves personally, professionally and financially.
To date, there's been an overwhelming response to the organization because of the exciting tools that American Football Alumni offers. For example, members now have an outlet to share their opinions on timely football topics, such as what is right for college players and new sports rules that are being considered.
Members also can participate in exclusive, national college football polls. This brings together the broadest demographic of players and coaches to create what is believed to be not only the most accurate polls, but ones that truly represent the sport from those who know it best.
One of American Football Alumni's main goals is to recognize players of every skill level. Because society tends to only honor the big-star players, the organization makes sure all players are recognized as individuals who were important to their teams, our society and to football culture as a whole.
Uniting thousands of players from around the country, American Football Alumni will hold Football Fest 2006, which will be held July 6 to 9 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
The event will be an action-packed weekend with opportunities to mingle with former football greats, talk with big-name coaches, play golf, attend speaker luncheons, hear the latest on sports topics at seminars and participate in the awards dinner. Nowhere else will you be able to rub shoulders with so many football lovers under one roof.
